Pool Surrounds in Sale & Gippsland
Pool surrounds take sun, chlorine, bare feet and constant wetting and drying. The finish has to be slip-resistant, the falls have to drain away from the pool, and the edges have to be right. We do it properly.

How it works
From quote to handover.
Site visit and quote
Nick looks at the pool shape, the existing drainage and the surrounds you want to replace or add. You get a written quote with the scope clear.
Base preparation
Excavation and compaction are done to the correct depth. Drainage points are confirmed before any concrete goes in.
Steel and forming
Reinforcement is set out and edges are formed around the pool coping. Falls are checked so water runs to the drain, not back to the pool.
Pour and finish
Concrete is placed and finished to a slip-resistant texture. Expansion joints are cut at the right intervals.
Cure and handover
We advise on curing time before the area is put back into service. The surround is ready to use once the concrete has reached full strength.
Where we work
Gippsland-wide, Sale-based.
Common questions
Answered straight.
- What finish is safest around a pool?
- Broom finish and exposed aggregate both give a good non-slip surface when wet. We avoid steel float around pool surrounds because it becomes slippery. The choice mostly comes down to look and budget.
- How do you handle the fall around a pool?
- Falls are graded away from the pool coping and toward floor drains or a garden edge. Getting this right on the site visit and in the forming stage is the key step. Poorly fallen surrounds cause pooling, which is both a slip risk and accelerates concrete deterioration.
- Can you resurface an existing pool surround?
- If the existing slab is structurally sound, spray pave is an option. If the base is failing or the falls are wrong, demolition and a new pour is more cost-effective long term. Nick will give you an honest assessment on the visit.
- Do pool surrounds need expansion joints?
- Yes. Concrete expands and contracts with temperature changes. Around pools, where wetting and drying cycles are constant, control joints are important to prevent random cracking. We cut them at the right intervals as part of the job.
- What areas do you cover for pool surround work?
- We are Sale-based and work across Gippsland including Traralgon, Paynesville, Bairnsdale and surrounding areas.
